Frederick Zeno. 1942-2024

Frederick John Zeno, 82, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Berlin Health and Rehab in Berlin, Vermont. Frederick was born on January 29, 1942, in Middlebury, Vermont. He was the son of the late Frederick Henry and Clara (Dow) Zeno. He was previously married to Marilyn (Harvey) Deforge and Theresa Prive.

He grew up and attended schools in Duxbury and was employed for over 32 years by the state of Vermont at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. He worked in the Buildings & General Services Department. After his retirement, he worked in janitorial services at Thatcher Brook Primary School for five years, O'Brien Janitorial Services for 10 years, and most recently for the Alchemist Brewery in Waterbury and Stowe. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Additionally, Fred was a member of the Waterbury Area Senior Center and was its 2018 Senior Volunteer of the Year.

Fred is survived by his children Nancy Barker and her husband Andy of Northfield, Steven Zeno and his wife Rocio Cortez of South Burlington, Frederick H. Zeno of Randolph, Edmund Zeno of Waterbury Center; also a sister May (Zeno) Hnath of Vernon, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, friends and extended family. 

He was predeceased by two sisters, Carlene West and Betty Bodne, and a brother, Edmund Zeno.

A graveside service will be held at the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m., followed by a reception at the Waterbury Area Senior Center. Memorials may be made to the Waterbury Area Senior Center, 14 Stowe St., Waterbury, VT 05676.
