Stowe Theatre Guild originally planned for the curtain to open tonight on the final show of its 2022 season.

COVID-19 has changed that. This weekend’s performances of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning show “A Little Night Music” have been called off with shows still planned for the weekends, Oct. 6-15.

“Despite safety precautions taken during rehearsals, Covid has found its way to the stage of Stowe Theatre Guild’s final show of the season. The wellness and safety of our audience, cast, and crew are a top priority; thus, opening week for ‘A Little Night Music’ (Sept. 29-Oct. 1) is canceled,” the theatre company announced on Wednesday.

Tickets purchased for this weekend’s shows can be rescheduled by contacting tickets@stowetheatre.com. Thursday-through-Saturday performances scheduled for the following two weekends, Oct. 6-15, are still on. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee.

The musical classic portrays themes of love and romance woven among characters and told through Sondheim’s lush score which includes the masterpiece, “Send in the Clowns.”

Tickets: $20, adults; $15 for seniors 65+ and children 12 and under; $18 for students w/i.d. Purchase tickets and find more information online at stowetheatre.com/2021/a-little-night-music.

Stowe Theatre Guild recommends, but does not require, masking when inside Town Hall Theatre, regardless of vaccination status. The theater is located in the Town Hall building at 67 Vermont Route 100 in downtown Stowe.
