At the June 24 Concert in the Park in Waterbury, the Waterbury Rotary Club honored five recent high school graduates who were recipients of the club’s annual scholarship awards.
The Senior Scholarships come in the form of a new Apple laptop, awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and community service. Recipients were Alanya Morelli from Moretown, Ashley Proteau from Duxbury, and Ellett Merriman from Duxbury.
Proteau and Merriman also received the Lise Bornstein-Malter Community Service Award, a $500 cash scholarship recognizing students with a strong commitment to community service given in memory of former Waterbury Rotary Club member Lise Bornstein-Malter.
The Tools of the Trade Award is offered in partnership with the Central Vermont Career Center and provides recipients with tools, materials, and supplies for the recipients’ chosen field. The award was made to Kaylee Cameron from Waterbury who will be pursuing a career in emergency medical services, and Liam Guyette from Moretown who plans a career in heating and plumbing.
