Mutts and their humans strut at Little River State Park

The 24th Annual Mutt Strutt was held on Sunday, April 24, at Little River State Park in Waterbury.

The three-mile race for dogs and their humans raises funds for Vermont Companion Animal Neutering, Inc., a nonprofit spay-neuter clinic in Middlesex. 

Organized by Central Vermont Runners, the race attracted 45 two-legged participants and about 40 canine entries, according to race records.

Awards were given to the first-place finisher in each 10-year age group by (runner) gender and dog weight (under and over 50 lbs.)

The first-place overall male runner was John Paul Krol of Waitsfield and his dog Felix with a time of 19 minutes 15 seconds. Devyn Lafrance of Waterbury came in first place overall in the women's category with canine companion Arlo, finishing in 25:14.
