“It was nice to achieve this milestone, and I am appreciative of the effort by so many players and people that have put our program in position to achieve something like this. This milestone is the result of so many people—my players, former and current, my assistants, my JV coaches and all the feeder coaches along the way. Your work has now produced 100 wins. For that I am truly grateful to all of you. I hope you all are proud of the program you have helped build. Thank you to all of you.”
Looking back, Young said he couldn’t imagine the team’s record today when after the first two seasons it stood at 6-37. “It shows what happens when athletes commit and adults are willing to ‘buy in’ and follow a vision that would lead to a strong program. There have been many team highlights along the way and this is certainly up there with many of them.”
Young extends special thanks to Melody Frank, Greg Titus, Marc Rocheleau, Bethany Fuller, Jeff Fuller, Carla Felice, Tammy Thompson, Brent Lilly, Danielle Kent, Charlie Goodman, and Brian Godfrey for their work within the Harwood Girls Basketball program.
With a season record of 13-6, the Highlanders play their final regular season game today against Spaulding at 12:30 p.m. in Barre.
