Halloween 2023

Without rain, snow or a pandemic to dampen Halloween spirits, people in Waterbury took to the streets this week to celebrate their favorite fall holiday. From dusk on, downtown bustled with families, teenagers and plenty of adults largely in costumes as they strolled Main Street and village neighborhoods.
On Elm and Randall streets, residents were ready with spooky decorations and bowls-full of candy, a fair amount coming from community donations over the past week. At the Waterbury Fire Department fire station, giant inflated decorations greeted trick-or-treaters who filed past to collect candy, glow necklaces and some 500 hot dogs. Firefighters enjoyed a quiet night for calls as they met and greeted trick-or-treaters of all ages. On Stowe Street, volunteers at the American Legion set up a trick-or-treat station as well rewarding many costumed visitors with candy treats.
Below are some of the scenes captured by Waterbury Roundabout staffers Gordon Miller and Lisa Scagliotti.
