Duxbury

Paving & speed tables

Paving work is scheduled for Main Street and a section of River Road in Duxbury early this week, followed by the addition of two speed tables later in the week, according to town officials.

S.T. Paving will be working on Main Street on Monday and on the paved section of River Road that intersects with Main Street on Tuesday, according to a Friday update from the Duxbury Selectboard. Following the paving, two speed tables will be installed later in the week on Main Street in an effort to calm traffic.

Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes if possible as the work will result in delays.

Vermont Rt. 100 bridge work

Work continues on the Vermont Route 100 bridge over Dowsville Brook just south of Harwood Union High School near the intersection with Ward Hill Road. The bridge was closed for a period this summer due to damage from the July flood. The span was partially repaired and reopened with additional repairs still needed. That work is under way now with a temporary traffic signal in place to limit traffic to one lane at a time.

VTrans District 6 General Manager Greg Smith explained that the bridge approach slabs needed to be removed and there was a long lead time for materials. The final phase of the repairs is now taking place with an estimated completion date of Nov. 1, Smith said.

This resurfacing project is the northbound travel (right) lane only between Bridge No. 40N (MM 52.5) in Montpelier to the Waterbury Exit 10 off-ramp (MM 63) is nearly completed. Sometime this week, VTrans anticipates the final phase to apply pavement markings will be completed when weather conditions allow. When that is taking place, motorists can expect intermittent one lane of travel Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. with the speed limit reduced to 55 mph during the lane closure. Motorists are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled in a construction zone.

I-89 Richmond & U.S. 2 Richmond bridge project

Just south of Exit 11 in Richmond this week, northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane of travel between MM 75.45 and MM 76.79 Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday, northbound traffic will use the crossover into the southbound passing lane from MM 75.45 to MM 76.79 and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane.

Above on U.S. Route 2 on Monday, the new bridge will be open for motorists. Traffic control will be present on Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a single lane of alternating travel near the Bridge #29 construction.
