Gov. Scott to deliver 2022 budget address

January 17, 2022 | By Waterbury Roundabout

Gov. Phil Scott will deliver his budget address on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.

The address is the governor’s traditional pitch to the public and in particular, the Legislature, outlining his key priorities for the session that he would like lawmakers to fund.

Unlike the typical format where the governor addresses a joint gathering of the Vermont House and Senate, Scott will deliver the address from the auditorium in the Pavilion Office Building in Montpelier. The event is not open to the public.  Only staff and a handful of journalists will be present to record, photograph, and broadcast the event as was the case for the State of the State address earlier this month.

Likewise, the House and Senate are working remotely so far this session due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The speech will be carried live online by ORCA Media, the legislature’s YouTube channel, and various Vermont news outlets.
