Main Street Construction Update | Sept. 11-18

Construction activities are ongoing. Flaggers and pedestrian crossers are present. Expect traffic delays and one-way alternating traffic in work areas.

Between Dac Rowe Park and Stowe Street

  • Excavation will continue on the even-numbered side of this segment and later in the week it will shift to the odd-numbered side to complete drainage. Expect temporary loss of driveway access when the excavation takes place in front of your property.  Parking is available at the municipal parking lot.

  • The box cut for North Main Street is scheduled to start the week of Sept. 14 near the Congregational Church and work toward just beyond the Stagecoach Inn on both sides of Main Street.

Between Stowe Street and Park Street

  • Paving is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, from Waterbury Sports, up Bank Hill to the Congregational Church on both sides of Main Street. This includes paving upper Elm Street. Expect heavy equipment activity and noise. There will be temporary loss of driveway access when the paving takes place in front of each property.

  • Driveway and sidewalk prep will continue where new curbs are installed.

  • Poured concrete sidewalks continue where the curbs have been installed.  Once concrete is installed, driveways will be blocked from access for approximately 7 days while the concrete cures.  Vehicles will need to park off site during this time.

  • Watch for signage changes to enter and exit the Village Market/Kinney’s shopping center.  Access will change when the sidewalks are poured. Park Row access will remain open.

From Park Street to the end of the project

No significant work is scheduled in this area at this time.

Roundabout project

This is a separate project from Main Street. Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic patterns with flaggers in place in the work zone.

  • Daytime construction will take place on Monday, Sept. 14 through Friday, Sept. 18, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.;  night work is planned for Thursday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Work this week will include adjusting drainage structures and sidewalk ramps at the intersections of North Main/U.S. Rt. 2 with both Butler and Wallace Streets.
