Hundreds of people with homemade signs of protest lined Vermont Route 100 in Waitsfield on Saturday morning to protest the vice president’s weekend stay there to ski at Sugarbush.

Demonstrations remained raucous but peaceful including in Warren village and at the ski area where some continued carrying signs and waving flags.
The protests took on a heavy emphasis in support of Ukraine as it marks the third year of war with Russia. Demonstrators lashed out at Vice President Vance’s stinging criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a stormy Friday visit in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump, Vance and advisors in front of news crews before Vance left for Vermont.

Mixed in among those unhappy with the vice president were some supporters as well who waved Trump-Vance banners and signs with welcoming messages.

Vermont’s reaction to Vance’s visit garnered national and even international news coverage from the Boston Globe and the New York Post to CNN and the BBC.
