Vermont State Police are investigating an incident near the Waterbury Train Station late Wednesday night in which two men were sent to the hospital with apparent stab wounds.

A group of people including juveniles were involved in a fight, according to a morning news release from Det. Sgt. Amber Keener.

Police responded to the area near the train station just after 11 p.m. where “an altercation between multiple individuals, both juvenile and adult,” was reported. In an email, Keener said there were multiple reports on the size of the group. “I can tell you at least eight” people were involved, she said.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Park Row and Railroad Street. When troopers from the Berlin barracks arrived, they found that two of the adults involved had suffered apparent stab wounds, police said.

Both men are from Wolcott: Josh Gillen, 28, and Aaron Vetere, 22, police said. They were taken to UVM Medical Center in Burlington with what were not serious or life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to contact the state police at the Berlin barracks at 802-229-9191. Anonymous tips may be submitted online at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
