BLUSH HILL
Pavement milling has been done in preparation for paving of Blush Hill Road and ditches continue to be cleared. Paving is anticipated by the end of August, allowing for areas where culverts were replaced time to compact before new asphalt is put down. Lonesome Trail also will be repaved.
MAIN STREET
No major impacts or disruptions are expected in the construction area this week. Paving is completed and workers and flaggers will be present along Main Street as punch list items are addressed including:
Replacing some concrete sections in Segments 3 and 4 that didn’t cure properly.
Installing streetscape amenities including benches, kiosks, bike racks and trash/recycling containers.
Some final repairs remain to be done on exterior features at some businesses that were affected by road and sidewalk construction. That work will be completed in late August or early September and will not involve disruptions to traffic.
To commemorate the completion of the project and a decade of transformation since Tropical Storm Irene, the community is invited to a celebration and ribbon cutting planned for Friday, Aug. 27, at 5p.m. at the intersection of Main and Stowe Streets. Details of the event and photographs of the construction project are online at waterburyworks.com.
