Main Street Construction | April 26-30

OVERALL IMPACTS

  • Items to complete over the next few months include: sidewalks, walkways, installation of new lampposts, landscaping, signage, a final layer of pavement, final line striping. Overhead utility lines will gradually be removed by utility crews by July 2022.

  • This project is scheduled to be completed in August 2021 with most work completed in July.

  • Flaggers and pedestrian crossers will be present where construction is taking place.

  • Watch for changing work locations and traffic patterns.

  • No construction activities are scheduled for weekends.

Segment 1: North Main Street between Dac Rowe Park and Stowe Street

  • Work continues on North Main Street from the railroad bridge toward the downtown core to remove the temporary asphalt on driveways and sidewalks to prepare for new concrete sidewalks. The schedule for concrete placement is dependent on weather and affected property owners will be notified in advance.  Be prepared to be flexible these next few weeks as the work crew progresses by each property.

  • Residents are asked to communicate with workers if they are blocking a driveway so they can make accommodations. When new concrete is poured, vehicles will need to park off site for several days until the concrete has cured. Parking is available at the municipal office building and library.

  • Landscaping will take place as weather allows.

 Stowe Street note:

  • The current work on lower Stowe Street is a town project although the work crew is the same. Sidewalks on the Senior Center side were to be removed with level gravel installed until after the curbs are set.  Access will be limited during this activity.  Road construction on lower Stowe Street will wrap up by the 28th and the street will be open to vehicles and pedestrians. New granite curbs are scheduled to be installed on the Senior Center side of lower Stowe Street April 28-29 with one-way alternating traffic.  New concrete sidewalks will be installed in early May.

Segment 2: South Main Street between Stowe Street and Park Street

  • New stamped concrete will be done between the sidewalks and the curbs.

  • Landscaping will take place as weather allows.

Segments 3 and 4: South Main Street from Park Row to the end of the project

  • No significant construction activities are anticipated through April 30

The work schedule is contingent on weather, equipment, supplies and a variety of circumstances.
