Vermont State Police are investigating the Wednesday morning theft of a pickup truck at a Waterbury gas station that they say was used later in the day in a theft at the St. Albans Walmart store.

According to Vermont State Trooper Jae Farnum-Boylan, a 2021 blue RAM 1500 pickup with the plate number 282A832 was stolen while parked at Billings Mobil at 758 Waterbury-Stowe Road (Vermont Rt. 100) in Waterbury.

“The owner reportedly left the doors unlocked and the engine running when they went into the store,” Farnum-Boylan said.

The vehicle has an honorary Stowe Fire Department plate on the front and rear window decal with a white skull and green three-leaf clover, he added.

The owner told investigators that a friend reported seeing the truck heading northbound on I-89 near Bolton Flats shortly after it was taken.

Police say they have confirmed that the truck was involved in a retail theft at the St. Albans Walmart on Wednesday afternoon.

Neighboring agencies are aware of the vehicle’s description but it has not yet been recovered, police said.

Anyone with information that might help with this investigation is urged to contact the Berlin state police barracks at 802-299-9191.
