Two vehicles were totaled but no one was hurt in a Tuesday morning crash on U.S. Route 2 in Waterbury, according to Vermont State Police.
One driver was issued tickets for multiple violations, police said.
The incident happened at approximately 8:40 a.m. near the intersection of Rt. 2 and Farr Road Extension, according to the report by Trooper Benjamin Goodwin.
The investigation determined that a 2005 Mini Cooper PT driven by Shawn Cummings, 52, of Waterbury, was westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane. It crashed into a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by Taylor Murray, 29, of Middlesex.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were considered totaled. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and neither was hurt, according to the police report. The weather was cloudy and the roadway was wet, police noted.
Police ticketed Cummings for several violations: driving too fast for conditions and hazards,
driving on roadways laned for traffic, defective equipment, no insurance, and plates not assigned to the vehicle.
Traffic on Rt. 2 was reduced to one lane while crews investigated the incident and cleared the scene. Waterbury Ambulance Service and Waterbury Fire Department both responded to the crash.
