The Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a kid’s bicycle reported stolen from Brookside Primary School on Monday.

According to Trooper Ryan Riegler in a press release on Thursday, the bicycle is a red 2021 Specialized Riprock model with 24-inch wheels. Similar models retail for about $600.

Waterbury resident Dan Schneider reported the bike missing and posted details on Front Porch Forum and on a Facebook page – BVT Stolen Bike Report and Recovery – dedicated to collecting information about missing, stolen or found bicycles in the Greater Burlington area.

The bike “has a big scratch on the side of the fork that goes from the crown to about halfway down the fork,” Schneider described.

The bike was last seen near the chicken coop behind the school, Schneider said. “Hoping someone grabbed it by accident,” he wrote in his Front Porch Forum post.

The bike, which belongs to Schneider’s 11-year-old daughter who just finished fourth grade, was left at school on Monday, June 12, and was gone when the family returned on Tuesday to get it, he explained.

Anyone with information about the bike could email Schneider at danschneideraia@gmail.com or contact the state police barracks in Berlin 802-229-9191 or by texting keyword VTIPS to 274637. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to 844-848-8477.
