A Waterbury man is facing a charge of aggravated sexual assault stemming from an incident in 2017 with a child, according to Vermont State Police.

Detective Sgt. Mathew Nadeau in a press release Wednesday said that the agency’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations in late January began an investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a 6-year-old that occurred in the spring of 2017.

On Wednesday, Andrew Fuller, 72, of Waterbury surrendered to police at the Berlin barracks where he was issued a citation for the charge of aggravated sexual assault, Nadeau said. Fuller is scheduled to appear for a court hearing on Aug. 1 at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Barre.
