Vehicle ‘doing donuts’ damages middle school grounds

Local school officials are asking for the public’s help for information about an incident of vandalism over the weekend that damaged the school grounds at Crossett Brook Middle School.

Principal Tom Drake said that overnight last Saturday into Sunday morning, Jan. 8, at approximately 1:50 a.m. security cameras at the school recorded footage of “a silver or light gray Subaru with bluish headlights driving around the school.”

“The vehicle then drove out to the front parking lot and field by the solar panels and proceeded to drive in circles,” Drake said.

The vehicle did not cause any damage to the solar array which sits beside the playing field in view of Vermont Route 100 on the school grounds, Drake said.

It’s hard to say how badly damaged the front field is and that may not be clear until spring, Drake said, adding that it did not look to be very serious.

Still, the incident is cause for concern and not one that should be repeated. Anyone with information is asked to contact Drake at tdrake@huusd.org or call 802-244-6100.
