Vermont State Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who reportedly left a store in Waitsfield on Wednesday without paying for multiple items including a chainsaw and BB gun.

Police said they received a report on Thursday from Ace Hardware in Waitsfield of an incident that took place the day before at approximately 5:30 p.m.

According to store staff, a man came into the store and picked up a DeWalt chainsaw, a pistol-style BB gun, BBs, and a pair of socks, police said. The man then exited using a side door without paying for the items, according to the report.

A store security camera captured an image of the individual. Anyone with information that might assist in the investigation should call the state police barracks in Berlin at 802-229-9191 or leave an anonymous tip online at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit
