UPDATE: State police report missing teen was located

Vermont State Police on Sunday morning posted an update in the case of a missing Waterbury teenager saying that 16-year-old Kaliyah Washburn was located and is safe.

“Troopers from the Berlin Barracks safely located Kaliyah Washburn at a friend’s residence in Waterbury on the morning of March 3rd. She was evaluated by members of the Waterbury Ambulance Service for a possible minor ankle injury. She was then turned over to the care of her family,” the update states.


State police seek public’s help in locating runaway teen

Vermont State Police on Saturday evening said they are looking for the public’s assistance in locating a runaway Waterbury teenager.

In a news release shortly after 8 p.m., Trooper Mae Murdock said state police received a report of a runaway juvenile at 5:30 p.m. They are trying to locate 16-year-old Kaliyah Washburn who left home “following a disagreement with a caretaker.”

Kaliyah is described as 5'4" with medium-length dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, and weighing approximately 115 lbs. The teen was last seen wearing a light green sweatshirt with “Florida” on it and tan sweatpants, and possibly dark-rimmed glasses.
