Vermont State Police are asking the public for tips on an attempted armed robbery in downtown Waterbury Sunday night.

The incident happened at approximately 9:51 p.m. State police said they responded to Champlain Farms on Main Street where store employees said that a woman with blond hair wearing an oversized brown jacket and a blue shirt covering her face demanded cash.

With one hand in her pocket the woman handed the clerk a note saying “Give me all the money in the register or you’re going to get hurt,” police said in a news release.

Store employees refused to comply and the woman fled the store as another customer entered, police said. She was last seen headed toward Stowe Street.

The suspect was described as roughly 5 feet 2 inches tall with tan skin and blond hair and in her late 40s or early 50s, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Fox at the Middlesex state police barracks at 802-229-9181.
