Help wanted: Representative-elect Balint seeks congressional staff
Dec. 1, 2022 | By Waterbury Roundabout
U.S. House Representative-elect Becca Balint is accepting applications for positions in her congressional offices with her recent campaign manager leading the transition.
“I am thrilled to start building our congressional team,” Balint said in announcing the hiring phase. “We are building a team of committed public servants who are excited to serve Vermonters with kindness, professionalism and the dedication they deserve.”
Balint, a Democrat, became the first woman to win election to Vermont’s lone at-large U.S. House seat in the Nov. 8 General Election. She won 60% of the vote, defeating Republican Liam Madden. Balint also will be the first openly LGBTQ person to represent Vermont in the U.S. House.
Balint will be sworn in on Jan. 3 when the 118th Congress convenes. She replaces outgoing Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt. After serving eight terms in the House, Welch ran and won election to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
A resident of Brattleboro, Balint currently still holds office for several more weeks as a Vermont state senator representing the Windham district. Members of the new Vermont General Assembly will take their oaths of office on Jan. 4 when the state Legislature convenes.
Natalie Silver managed Balint’s successful U.S. House campaign and now is working to set up Balint’s congressional staff. “Sen. Balint has a clear vision: To have an office where a diverse mix of talented people wants to do their best work on behalf of all Vermonters,” Silver said. “She knows that bringing the best versions of ourselves to the work is as important as technical skills and encourages applicants with non-traditional work and career paths to apply for any role where they believe they would excel.”
Interested applicants for both the Vermont office and the Washington, D.C., office should submit a resume, cover letter, and two references to office@beccabalint.com. Please direct all questions to office@beccabalint.com as well.
The transition team will recruit, employ, compensate and promote regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, citizenship status, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected statuses as required by applicable law.
