Road Work | July 11-15

July 9, 2022

Waterbury Public Works Director Bill Woodruff shares this update for road work for the week of July 11.

Stowe Street

All of the structures along Stowe Street have been adjusted to accommodate the new paving that is scheduled for later this summer.  Some of the structures have barricades around them so traffic may be limited to one lane or lane widths narrowed in certain areas. Motorists should use caution navigating these spots. Motorcycle drivers also should be aware of loose gravel along the paved surface.

Hill Street

Lower Hill Street will be closed at the intersection of Railroad and Hill streets this weekend.  All Hill Street traffic must enter and exit from the High Street end.

Work begins on Monday to remove asphalt from all of Hill Street in preparation for paving.  This will require Hill Street to be closed to traffic on both ends.  Work is expected to take two days.

U.S. Route 2: Richmond – Bolton

A resurfacing project continues along U.S. 2. Motorists will encounter areas of one-way alternating traffic and unpaved surfaces as crews work on pavement grinding, ledge removal, and underdrain installation on the east end of the project.

Interstate 89 Richmond

A culvert repair project will continue into the fall. Motorists will encounter a one-mile-long lane closure in both travel directions just south of Exit 11 as southbound traffic is merged to the northbound lane using a crossover. VTrans officials ask motorists to pay attention to signage in the area and to merge early.
