Vermont’s Congressional delegation announced on Monday that they will hold a joint telephone town meeting with constituents this Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Peter Welch, D-Vt., and Rep. Becca Balint, D-Vt., will be on a conference call to hear directly from Vermonters “about the challenges they are facing in their daily lives, their concerns for their families, their communities, their state and the world, and how the federal government can work to address those concerns,” the lawmakers said in their announcement.
To participate, individuals can register online here by midnight tonight. Those signed up will receive a phone call to join the event. Participants also may submit questions in advance through the registration form.
During the call, Sanders, Welch, and Balint will respond to live questions posed by participants and those submitted in advance.
Sen. Sanders said: “In the last month, the congressional delegation has received thousands of calls from Vermonters expressing deep concerns. To put it simply, there is a lot to discuss.”
Welch emphasized the delegation’s work to oppose recent sweeping changes from the federal government since President Donald Trump’s new administration began in January: “We’re working to combat Trump’s illegal agenda and want to share how our offices can help working families, seniors, and businesses. We want to hear from you and share the voices of Vermonters in Washington.”
A livestream of the call will be shown online on the Facebook pages of Welch, Sanders and Balint.
