Career Center caps off school year on June 15

Central Vermont Career Center holds its annual Awards and Recognition night for students on Thursday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. and the community is invited to attend in person or watch online.

The ceremony is planned for the football field at Spaulding High School where capacity isn’t a worry, school officials said. The career center is located on the Spaulding campus at 155 Ayers St., in Barre. The ceremony also will be carried online on a livestream feed

The end-of-year event celebrates student work this past academic year. Highlights are presentations of various awards and scholarships. Attendees are reminded to bring a chair or blanket.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Barre Municipal Auditorium. That call will be made by June 14. Check the CVCC website and its Facebook page for any last-minute updates.

Another end-of-year ceremony was held recently, the National Technical Honor Society chapter held its awards event on May 26. A recording of that event is online on the school's YouTube channel.

Facilities Committee seeks volunteers

Looking to the future, the Central Vermont Career Center School District is seeking community members for its Facilities Committee. The goal for that group is to address short-term space needs for the center and to determine long-term facility plans.

“If you have great ideas, are an ultimate planner, have experience in facilities, projects and/or construction or if you just have a general passion or interest in technical education and its importance to our students, communities and local economies, please consider joining us,” school officials said in their announcement seeking committee participants.

To volunteer, interested individuals should fill out this online form to describe their interest and how they believe they can assist with the committee’s mission.
