On June 16, voters in the Harwood Unified Union School District will vote for the second time on a $39.7 million proposed budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

Voters on Town Meeting Day in March rejected the first budget for 2020-21 which had a similar bottom line but called for consolidating middle school students at Crossett Brook Middle School this fall. The new plan leaves the current school configuration in place and relied on a number of spending cuts to remain at the same level.

The school district has assembled a collection of information on its website with links to budget details, the official election warning, 10 pages of FAQs and more.

In order to reduce the number of people voting in person due to public health concerns, school and elections officials are urging local residents to call or email their town clerks to request an early ballot by mail.

In-person voting will also be held in each of the district’s six communities on June 16.
