Muddy roads reroute school buses for Monday

A Sunday evening email to staff and families notified the community of updated bus routes for Monday morning and afternoon affecting 25 roads across the Harwood Unified Union School District.

Some roads were off-limits to buses at the end of last week and school officials announced altered routes for Monday before school ended on Friday, but worsening conditions on dirt and gravel backroads around the six-town district over the weekend have made the list much longer.
The memo - printed in full below with Waterbury and Duxbury information first - lists the roads by town where there will be changes on Monday. In most cases, it will mean that students will be picked up and dropped off at points farther away from home than usual in order for the buses to avoid rutted, muddy roads.
Parents should watch for further word from the school district on Monday confirming the routes for the afternoon.

HUUSD Bus Route Changes for Monday 3.21.22
Due to road conditions, buses will not be traveling on many town roads tomorrow (Monday, 3/21). Please review the following, as there have been updates and additions since we last communicated Friday. We continue to monitor road conditions and will send out an update during the day Monday. You should anticipate that these closures will remain in place for Monday afternoon as well. As we did on Friday, we will send a message confirming afternoon route times.

Waterbury: Gregg Hill Road, Perry Hill Road, Ripley Road, Valley View Road, Little River Road, Shaw Mansion Road, Twin Peaks Road, Keeland Flats Trailer Park, Lonesome Trail and Blush Hill Road North of Lonesome Trail
Elementary students who require transportation from Gregg Hill Road can meet bus 2 at the South end of Gregg Hill Road at the intersection of Route 100 @ 7:15 AM.
Middle/high school students can meet bus 2 at the South end of Gregg Hill Road at the intersection of Route 100 @ 8:00 AM.
Elementary students who require transportation from Sweet Road, Valley View Road, or the North end of Shaw Mansion Road can meet bus 3 at the North end of Shaw Mansion Road at the Intersection of Loomis Hill Road at 7:10 AM.
