Waterbury author Aaron Starmer’s latest work of young-adult fiction is set to be released next week and Bridgeside Books hosts a launch party on Thursday, May 1.

“Night Swimming,” published by Penguin Random House, follows the story of two teens and their nocturnal adventures during the summer following high school graduation. Starmer’s publisher announcement says the tale “invites you to dip your toes into 90s nostalgia with a pool-hopping coming of age novel with a ‘Hotel California’ twist.”

Starmer has written more than a dozen middle-grade and young-adult books, including the 2020 humorous-horror novel “Spontaneous,” the “Riverman” trilogy, and the popular “Locker 37” and “Math Mysteries” series stories.

This latest story is set in 1994. Starmer weaves a tale of Trevor and Sarah, two newly minted high school graduates spending their summer nights sneaking into backyards all over town on a mission to swim in every pool.

From the publisher: “Things finally change when they learn about a natural pool hidden deep in the woods. It seems like just another spot to check off their summer bucket list. But once they get there, they realize that this place has a curious hold on them, and something very strange is happening…”
