The Duxbury Historical Society holds its annual fundraising event, the Let's-Make-A-Deal Yard & Bake Sale, on Saturday, Sept. 9, at its headquarters at the South Duxbury Church across from Harwood Union Middle/High School.

The sale from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. will feature many first-time sale items including housewares, tools, linens, kitchen gadgets, books, games, arts and crafts, and much more donated by historical society and community members. There also will be a bake sale section that often includes fresh garden produce and prepared foods.

Most items are not priced. Instead, buyers “make a deal” for their purchases. Organizers say some valuable items may be marked with a suggested donation as a starting point for that process.

Donated items may be dropped off on Wednesday, Sept. 6, between 4 and 7:30 p.m.

Approved items to contribute to the sale include household items, games, kitchen linens, toys, collectibles, jewelry, sporting equipment and books.

Not accepted: large furniture, televisions, clothing, large bedding items, ski boots, large appliances, or encyclopedias. The sale cannot accept cribs, car seats or bicycle helmets per state regulations regarding resale of these items.

Proceeds from the sale support the historical society’s programs and care of the church property that it acquired in 2022. Learn more about the Duxbury Historical Society, a nonprofit community organization, online here.

For any questions or to arrange a different drop-off time, contact Shawnee Perry at 802-244-6496.
