Propose a show for Stowe Theatre Guild’s 2024 season

June 8, 2023 | By Waterbury Roundabout

The Stowe Theatre Guild has put out a call to directors and aspiring directors to submit proposals for shows the company could consider for its 2024 season.
Part of the mission of the nonprofit community theater organization is to empower local talent to bring their vision to the Stowe Town Hall Theatre stage.

The guild recently announced that it was canceling plans for a 2023 season after not receiving any suitable proposals for this year. That combined with a drop-off in its volunteers to work behind the scenes to line up productions led to the decision. The Stowe Reporter details the group’s challenges in this April 20 report.

Stowe Theatre Guild supports directors by arranging auditions, selling tickets, and managing the house, among other responsibilities of production. It also has an extensive costume shop for productions to use.

Directors are the driving talent and leadership behind assembling a production by casting shows and putting together the team. Stowe Theatre Guild will consider proposals of a wide variety from moving dramas to comic plots, new writers to old favorites, provocative plays and toe-tapping musicals.

“We like to send our audiences out smiling, humming, and thoroughly entertained!” the group says in its invitation

Directors are asked to describe their project using an online form. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 15.

Direct any questions to Stowe Theatre Guild Vice President Leslie Anderson with an email to vice-pres@stowetheatre.com.
