Charles “Charlie” Craig Dow, 72, of Burlington, Vermont, passed away on February 17, 2024, at his home. 

Charles was born in Middlebury, Vermont, on October 19, 1951, to Edmund and Norma (Casey) Dow Sr. He attended and graduated from Harwood Union High School in Duxbury, Vermont. On December 31, 1993, he married Dorothy Parizo. 

Charlie worked for S.D. Ireland Concrete. He also served 42 years in the Vermont Army National Guard where he deployed to Kuwait and Afghanistan during his service. 

During his time with the Vermont Army National Guard, he also received many awards. Among those awards are the following: Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Army & 10 Usc 12322 (3rd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ Service Reserve Component Overseas Follows W/M Device. 

Charlie was proud to serve his country. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #59, in Waterbury, Vermont. 

Charlie loved fishing, hunting, and camping at Goose Point Campground where he made many great friends. He never met a stranger. One of his favorite pastimes was attending his grandson (Ittles) sports events, especially wrestling. 

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of 30 years; his children, Travis (Tina) Dow, Trisha Dow and Tasha Dow all of Lafollette, Tennessee; his step-daughters Stephanie (Jamie Block) Badger of East Hardwick, Melissa Badger of Barre and Kristen Badger of Essex; brothers, David (Shirley) Dow of Waterbury Center, Michael (Stephanie) Dow of Georgia and Randy (Cheryl) Dow of Moretown; sisters Lillian (Bummy) Perry of Waterbury and Clara (Richard) Taft of Berlin. 

He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his mother-in-law, Glendeen J. Parizo of Morrisville, three brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and their spouses, and his best friend and fishing buddy, Bill Broyles of Burlington. 

Charlie was predeceased by his parents Edmund and Norma, his two sisters Ramona Culver and Carol Parry, two brothers Edmund Jr. and Wayne Dow, as well as a grandson Robert, and a great-granddaughter Harper. 

Charlie was a stranger to no one and was always there to lend a helping hand. He is missed by many. 

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the University of Vermont Home Health and Hospice in Colchester, Vermont.

A graveside service will be held on May 11 at 10 a.m. at Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center. A gathering will follow at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post 59, 16 Stowe St., Waterbury.
