Trick or Treat 2024

October 31, 2024 | By Waterbury Roundabout

Vermont is bracing for one of the warmest Halloweens in memory today with the forecast calling for a high in the low 70s this afternoon.

Here’s what trick-or-treaters in Waterbury need to know:

  • Elm and Randall Streets will be closed to through-traffic from 4 to 9 p.m. from just past the municipal parking lot on Elm to the intersection with Park Row near the State Office Complex.

  • Parking at the State Office Complex near Park Row is encouraged.

  • The Waterbury Fire Department will have members at BOTH fire stations tonight. The Main Street station downtown will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. with volunteers handing out candy treats and glow sticks and serving up 500 hot dogs. At the Maple Street station in Waterbury Center, volunteers will be handing out treats and glow sticks from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

  • Trick-or-treaters are asked to leave dogs at home given a high concentration of ghosts and goblins expected to be out that could spook four-legged friends.

Neighborhood organizers thank all who contributed to the community candy collection at the library and local schools ahead of Halloween. On Tuesday afternoon, volunteers distributed more than three dozen bags to residents in the Randall Street neighborhood to give residents a head start on their supply of treats for tonight’s celebration.
