Waterbury’s Not Quite Independence Day celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, and the Waterbury Rotary Club encourages everyone to embrace the 2024 NQID theme: “Celebrating All Sport.”

This theme is inclusive of all ages of athletes and types of sports from little league teams to the Olympic games. Parade entrants may highlight motorsports, athletic sports, local championship teams, or even marathon knitting.

All local sports teams, sports businesses, and runners are invited to participate.

The annual parade will be led off at 3:45 p.m. by the Green Mountain Mile 1-mile run down Main Street. Parade awards will be presented at Rusty Parker Memorial Park following the parade. Categories are:

  1. Best use of theme

  2. Best antique vehicle

  3. Funniest float

  4. Most patriotic

  5. Best kids entry

  6. Best overall winner

Following the parade at Rusty Parker will be live music with the Tim Brick Band. Everyone is invited to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the music, food and dancing before the fireworks show at dusk.
