In a new show opening at Axel’s Gallery and Frame Shop this week, artist Benjamin Cheney invites you to experience “New Beginnings, Old Stories” – an evocative collection that explores the bittersweet journey of love and transition through the lens of an amicable divorce.

Opening on Wednesday, Oct. 30, this exhibition features a collection of poignant pieces that reflect the memories, emotions and stories that shaped a shared life.

In a world where endings are often viewed as failures, “New Beginnings, Old Stories” redefines this narrative, celebrating the beauty of change and the strength found in parting ways with grace. Each artwork represents cherished moments, symbols of connection, and the joyful recollections that remain, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of love and loss.

“Art has a unique ability to tell stories that words sometimes cannot,” Cheney explains. “Through this exhibition, I hope to showcase not just the end of a chapter, but the beauty in the memories we carry forward.”

The exhibition will include a diverse array of media, including both functional and fine art, each crafted with care to evoke emotions of nostalgia, hope and renewal.

Visitors will be able to engage with the art and the artist during a special opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., when Benjamin Cheney will share insights into the creation process and the personal journey behind the work.

“New Beginnings, Old Stories” will be on view from through Nov. 23. Except for special events, Axel’s Gallery and Frame Shop is open Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
