Obituary: Maureen R. Patterson

Maureen R. (Corse) Patterson, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away in the comfort of her home on April 5, 2023. Born on October 12, 1945, in Fletcher, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Clifford Corse. 

She attended schools in Fletcher and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1963. In April 1966, she married Edwin Patterson of Duxbury at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Waterbury with Father Louis Logue officiating. After their honeymoon, they moved into the Patterson home in Duxbury. They had two sons and maintained their residence in Vermont for 53 years before moving to Mount Juliet, Tennessee, to be near their son Mark and his family. 

Maureen worked at Harwood Union High School for 20 years and was the cheerleading coach for approximately 10 years.

Maureen leaves her husband Ed Patterson of 56 years, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; her son Mark and his wife Juanita, also in Mount Juliet; one grandson, Trevor Patterson, of Montana; three granddaughters, Emily Patterson of Ferrisburgh, Vermont, Autumn Hester and Brittany Godwin both of Tennessee; two great-grandsons, Luke and Jacob Ewing, of Tennessee; one brother Colin Corse, of Waterbury; two sisters Lois Lumbra, of Montgomery, Vermont, and Ruth Newhall and husband Roger of Ascutney, Vermont; one sister-in-law Edith Corse of Bristol, Vermont; two brothers-in-law, David Patterson and his wife Susan of Duxbury;  Richard Patterson and his wife Theresa of Waterbury; several nieces and nephews, and extended family.

She was predeceased by her son Scott Patterson; also four brothers, Alan (Bud) Martin, Harrison Corse, Clifford and Clifton Corse; and one sister Shirley Corse White.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury. Following the burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury, a reception will be held at St. Leo's Parish Hall in Waterbury.
