Obituary: Carl Raymond Baker

Carl Raymond Baker, 61, passed away in the comfort of his family on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was born on February 22, 1962, in Barre, the son of the late Douglas Baker Sr. and Ruby A. Rexford. He was previously married to Vanessa (Dietzel) Baker. 

Carl attended schools in the Central Vermont area. Most of his working life was spent in the construction industry and working in the woods logging. He enjoyed music and spending his free time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his three sons: Lance Gartner and his wife Amber of Hinesburg, Daniel Johnson of East Montpelier, CJ Baker of East Montpelier. Carl is also survived by his two sisters, Patricia Hayford and her husband Troy of Hyde Park, Lynda Young and her husband Mark of Morrisville. Additionally, he leaves behind four brothers: Douglas Baker Jr. and his wife Ulrike of Barre, Anthony Baker and his wife Coleen of Barre, Michael Merchant and his wife Amy Anderson of Waterbury, and Steven Merchant and his wife Kathy of Northwood, New Hampshire. Stepmother Emma LaBree, as well as many extended family members also survive him.
