Obituary: Penny Sue Mandigo

October 6, 1968 – February 28, 2025

Penny Sue Mandigo, 1968-2025

Penny Sue Mandigo, 56, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away suddenly on Friday afternoon February 28, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Penny was born on October 6, 1968, in Montpelier, the daughter of Bernard Perry of Waterbury and the late Patricia (Brooks) Perry.

Penny spent her early years in Florida where she began working in the hospitality industry. She later became a phlebotomist and was a traveling healthcare provider for several years. While in Florida, she started a family and raised three children. Her home and heart ultimately led her back to Vermont where she lived with her father Bernard and where she was able to be with her family and watch her grandchildren grow.

Penny was deeply loved by her family, her father Bernard Perry of Waterbury; her sons David McCann and his companion Ashley Badeau of Montpelier, Caleb McCann and his fiancé Kristie Palowski of Bellows Falls; her brothers Kevin Perry and his companion Bobbie Joe Coffin of North Hyde Park, Jason Audette and his wife Jamie Audette of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren Kolton, Mason, Emily, Maria, Molly and Calleigh; as well as extended family.

She was predeceased by her mother Patricia and her daughter Rebecca McCann. Before Rebecca’s passing, she wrote a poem that the family shares here.

In My Heaven

In my heaven

There will be

Angels and butterflies

And wings you can keep

Rainbows and mountains

Horses and sheep

Songs of happiness

And clouds where you can sleep

I’m not hesitant

I can’t wait

Until he calls me forward

At the Pearly Gates

No more sickness

No more pain

Just a feeling of love

That you can’t explain

I wish you could see

What I see in my mind

A place full of love

Where everyone is kind

I wouldn’t have to worry

Because I’d be with you, Lord

And I would never stray.

A graveside service will be held later this spring or early summer at the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Bernard Perry. To send online condolences please visit perkinsparker.com.
