Jan. 21, 2022 | By Waterbury Roundabout
The Valley Players will present the comedy/mystery “Clue: On Stage” at the Valley Players Theater in Waitsfield, Jan. 28 through Feb. 13.
Show time on Fridays and Saturdays will be 7 p.m.; Sunday matinees will start at 4 p.m. A recording of the show will also be available for a low-cost ticket price on the Broadway On Demand online streaming service.
“Clue: On Stage” has all the characters from the game and takes place on a dark and stormy night at a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias. The butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well… suspicious. A French maid and other shady suspects complete this hilarious whodunnit which is accompanied by pianist Michael Halloran of Barre.
Valley Players’ members Wes Olds from Graniteville plays Wadsworth, the stodgy butler; Cassandra Demarais of Websterville plays Miss Scarlett, a sarcastic businesswoman; Doug Bergstein of Warren plays Mr. Green, a nervous dinner guest; and Cynthia Seckler from Fayston plays the mysterious Mrs. White.
New to the Valley Players are Carrie Phillips of Waterbury who plays Mrs. Peacock, a controlling senator’s wife; Clem Turmel of Milton plays the obtuse Colonel Mustard; and Warren’s Josh Morse who plays the pompous Professor Plum.
The Valley Players welcome back to the stage Haley Behn of Northfield, last seen as Alice in the original production of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (2008). Behn plays Yvette, a saucy French maid. Rounding out the cast of “Clue” are veterans Brent Adams of Warren as Mr. Boddy, Danielle Dukette of Fayston as the Cook and the Motorist, and Charlotte Robinson of Warren as the Cop.
Ruth Ann Pattee of Fayston directs the show, with set construction by Michelle & Mike Nucci of Waitsfield and Doug Bergstein. Stage Manager is Joanne Puente of Worcester, Lighting Designer is Irene Halibozek from South Burlington. The stage crew includes Mikki Nucci and Tim O’Connell of Waitsfield.
“Clue: On Stage” is based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, written by Sandy Rustin with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price. The screenplay was based on the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture which was based on the Hasbro board game CLUE.
Original music included in the play is by Michael Holland. The play is produced by special arrangement with The Araca Group, Work Light Productions, and Michael Barra/Lively McCabe Entertainment.
