Andrew (Andy) W. Reed, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in Barre, Vermont. Born in Berlin on January 24, 1985, he was the son of Terry and Sheila (Gray) Reed.
Andy graduated from Harwood Union High School in 2004. He lived with his parents for 32 years. Andy lived at Hill Street Residential Group Home for seven years and was very well taken care of and loved by all the staff. Andy loved music and you would always see him bobbing his head and dancing in his chair. He loved camping with his family every summer at Lake Carmi. He enjoyed watching softball and baseball and his favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. He loved his Raggedy Andy and had many of them over the years which he would take wherever he went.
Andy’s life touched every person he met in a unique way. He was considered family to all of those around him. Andy taught his friends and family patience, compassion and love. He was always laughing at jokes before anyone else caught on or if someone did something silly, like tripping on the carpet. Andy was known for always having a solid lefthand love tap that he’d follow with a smile. To know Andy is to love him. He captured everyone’s heart.
Andy is survived by his father Terry Reed and mother Sheila (Gray) Reed. He is survived by two brothers, Brian Reed and his partner Wendy Ann, Joshua Reed and his partner Brian Popov, and two sisters, Tabitha and her husband Jessie Gilmartin, and Elizabeth Reed. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Barbara Ploof and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Waterbury on Friday, June 21, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church parish hall. Inurnment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury. For those who wish, contributions will be appreciated to Hill Street Residential Care Home WCMHS at 201 Hill Street, Barre, VT 05641.
