Gardeners looking ahead to the upcoming growing season may be interested in an upcoming visit to the Stowe Free Library by Vermont gardening expert Charlie Nardozzi.

The Friends of the Stowe Free Library hosts Chocolates with Charlie at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6. Nardozzi will be there to offer tips for summer gardening with a particular focus on soils and mulches.

Getting soils right can help everything grow better. Nardozzi will cover some basics of soil science, compost and fertilizers, drainage, and innovative ways to create healthier soil. He will discuss organic mulches, which are best, and how to use them in your landscape.

As a treat for attendees, Laughing Moon Chocolates will be served. This is a free event. The Stowe Free Library is located at 90 Pond Street. Note: Please use the library's back door facing the elementary school, as the library formally closes at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays.
