Owners and proponents of electric vehicles will converge at Crossett Brook Middle School on Aug. 17 for the annual LEAP Electric Vehicle Fest.

Organizers say they will have 15-20 electric vehicles on display for attendees to check out and the event will include a presentation and question-answer session with a representative from Drive Electric Vermont.

Vehicle owners and industry experts will be available to talk about specific vehicles to share information about incentives and tax credits involved with purchases and everyday details such as charging, operating costs, vehicle ranges, etc.

“Choosing an electric car is a great way to significantly shrink your fuel consumption and maintenance costs, reduce environmental impact, and to find a vehicle that's fun to drive,” said Duncan McDougall, chair of Waterbury LEAP which stands for Local Energy Action Partnership. The nonprofit energy efficiency and conservation organization is Waterbury’s energy committee.

In addition to electric vehicles, McDougall said attendees will also get a chance to check out models of electric mowers and lawn equipment. Organizers also are eager to have some electric bikes - those with one to share can contact Alayna Howard at alaynahoward@gmail.com or 603-748-9564 or just attend.

No registration is required. This event will be held outside from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Masks are strongly encouraged.
