Tots and their adults mask up for daytime outdoor Halloween party

The Children’s Room didn’t let COVID-19 put a damper on their Halloween fun this year.

On Friday photographer Gordon Miller captured the scene as tiny ghosts, goblins, unicorns and superheroes and their grownups gathered in the Word Garden at the Waterbury Public Library for what was billed as a Little Outdoor Halloween Party.

It featured a parade with everyone wearing masks. Tots and adults spread out on the grass for a witches brew demo by Children’s Room coordinator Naomi Alfini and stories from Children’s Librarian Michelle Willey. Steve Lotspeich took a break from the town Planning and Zoning office to warm up his banjo for a few tunes as well.

The event was organized by the Waterbury Public Library and The Children’s Room which hopes to resume its Halloween parade at Thatcher Brook Primary School in 2021.
