Exhibit reflects artist's focus on mental health

Axel's Gallery & Frame Shop on Stowe Street currently has a colorful exhibition titled "Moments of Joy" by Vermont artist Caroline Tavelli-Abar on view through July 25.

The works share pieces of the artist's journey when mental health became a priority and healing necessary, the exhibit announcement explains. The abstract watercolor paintings incorporate mixed media including inks, foils and folded papers with bold colors, strokes, lines and geometric patterns.

From the artist: “Nature helps heal as well, and the work is filled with hits of flitting bird patterns, budding plants, stars, and galaxies; and seasons bring solace as smaller pieces play at intertwining winter, spring and summer.”

The gallery is open Wednesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. More information at axelsgallery.com.

Across Roads Center for the Arts is seeking entries for a September-October exhibition at the Grange Hall Cultural Center focused on the theme, “Dwell.”

The deadline for submissions is midnight on Sept. 6 for pieces in all forms.
