Planning for Waterbury Winterfest 2025 is in the home stretch and events officially kick off with a silent auction at Bridgeside Books this Saturday, Dec. 7.

The auction will run from 3 to 4:45 p.m. at the bookshop on Stowe Street, ending just ahead of the River of Light lantern parade which begins at 5 p.m. from Brookside Primary School.  Auction participants do not need to be present to win if they have the highest bid when the auction closes.

Businesses from the Waterbury-Stowe area have donated a variety of auction items such as gift cards and store merchandise. Donors range from bars and restaurants to sporting goods stores, gift shops, and inns.

Proceeds from the auction go toward the supplies and venues needed to hold events over the five days of the Winterfest festival which will take place from Wednesday, Jan. 29, to Sunday, Feb. 2.

Participating businesses are listed on the Waterbury Winterfest website. A preliminary Winterfest 2025 schedule of events is also available on the site – check back as more events are added in the coming weeks.

Waterbury Winterfest is a volunteer-run, nonprofit initiative that provides a venue for indoor and outdoor winter recreation events that bring community members and visitors together to beat the mid-winter blues.

All proceeds from events and sponsorships go towards scholarships, grants, and supporting recreational activities in Waterbury throughout the year.
