Revitalizing Waterbury board members and longtime volunteers Cindy Lyons and Jeffrey Larkin have stepped down from their roles at the community development organization.

In an announcement this week, RW’s board of directors extended its thanks to both members for their service to the organization and to Waterbury. “Each has played important roles at Revitalizing Waterbury and their impact will be felt long into the future,” the board said.

Larkin was a board member and chair of RW and chair of the Waterbury Area Development Committee, a committee of RW. A former longtime owner of Arvad’s restaurant, Larkin has a keen interest in nurturing the local economy and projects that engage the community for the betterment of the downtown.

Larkin also has served on various municipal boards including the Development Review Board and Planning Commission.  In 2008, he and his wife Maryanne received the Kathy O’Dell Community Service Award from RW in recognition of their contributions to downtown Waterbury.

Lyons served as a board member and secretary of RW and as a member of the Waterbury Area Development Committee.

Lyons has strong ties with local residents and businesses in her role as an owner/broker of New England Landmark Realty. She also chairs RW’s Economic Development Committee,

volunteers with the Waterbury Area Food Shelf and wrote a monthly real estate column for the Waterbury Record.

RW President Theresa Wood said Larkin and Lyons contributed to making the organization strong. “We will miss their thoughtful participation and willingness to pitch in to make sure that the work being done by RW aligns with its mission and the needs of our community,” Wood said.

RW is a community development nonprofit with a mission to preserve, promote and enhance the economic, historic and social vitality of Waterbury. More information at revitalizingwaterbury.org.
