Now’s the time to Button Up!
Oct. 19, 2022 | By Alanya Howard
With a few hard frosts already under our belts, it’s time to start thinking about buttoning up for the heating season!
Button Up Vermont is an annual information-sharing campaign created to help Vermonters prepare their homes for winter. From tips on how to weatherize with air sealing and insulation, to considering larger heating equipment upgrades, there is a lot of great information available on the Button Up Vermont website and at their events running through the rest of October.
If you’re experiencing drafts, mold, inconsistent snow melt on your roof, or icicles, you’re losing heat. It’s very common to see one or more of these signs in your home and there are some simple steps you can take to help:
Attend an event: Check out an upcoming Button Up event, including a webinar about financing your project on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at noon; a webinar about weatherization on Wednesday Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.; and a webinar about heat pumps on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at noon. More event info is available at buttonupvermont.org/events.
Schedule a virtual home energy visit: Book a free energy visit with an expert from Efficiency Vermont to get specific advice on your home: buttonupvermont.org/visit.
Consider DIY: Stick season is the perfect time to take on a few projects at home. Watch the videos in the Button Up video library for ideas and step-by-step instructions: buttonupvermont.org/watch-learn.
Learn more online: Seek out resources and information from Efficiency Vermont to learn more about how buttoning up can increase resilience to climate change, or how much money weatherization can save you.
Waterbury LEAP thanks you for buttoning up this season to save energy, save money, and reduce the environmental impacts of our community!
