Is it time to weatherize your drafty house?  Are you interested in energy efficient heat pumps, electric vehicles, or solar power for your home or business?

Learn about these topics and more at the 2023 LEAP Energy Fair, Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crossett Brook Middle School. The annual event was last held in 2019 and was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With more than 75 exhibits, the LEAP Energy Fair is the largest in Vermont, and it’s free. Talk to experts about heat pumps, weatherization, solar power, energy audits, electric vehicles, electric bikes, efficient wood heat, and much more. Learn how to reduce fuel bills, save energy and shrink emissions. Exhibitors will have information on new technologies and programs.

Electronic recycling will also be available from 9 a.m. to noon organized by volunteers from Crossett Brook Middle School. Electronic waste items will be accepted for free at a drive-up drop-off outside. E-Waste is any type of discarded electronic device that either isn’t working or is no longer of use to you. This can be anything from old cell phones to small appliances. The collection cannot accept lightbulbs or any appliance with liquid inside (such as refrigerants).

Breakout sessions on topics of special interest are:

  • 11 a.m.: Heat Pumps and Weatherization

  • Noon: (two sessions) Going Solar; Electric Vehicles and Charging

  • 1 p.m.  (two sessions) Wood Heating; Heat Pumps and Weatherization

There will be a free show for kids by Marko the Magician at 11 a.m. Multiple owners of electric vehicles will be on site to talk EVs. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Free ice cream while the supply lasts.

This annual community event is hosted by the volunteers of Waterbury LEAP (Local Energy Action Partnership) which is both a nonprofit organization and Waterbury’s Energy Committee. More information is online at waterburyleap.org or contact Alayna at alaynahoward@gmail.com or 603-748-9564.
