Montpelier’s Lost Nation Theater presents a one-night benefit performance with some of its favorite artist friends to launch its new season on Saturday, March 18.

“The Kick-Off Cabaret!” is an evening of tales and tunes variety show and the first program of the resident professional theater’s 35th season.

Hosted by G. Richard Ames accompanied by Tim Guiles on piano, the program features founding Artistic Director Kim Bent, Alexa Kartschoke, Kathleen Keenan, Kate Kenney, Jordan Mensah, Taryn Noelle, Maura O’Brien, Abby Paige, William Pelton and George Woodard.

The program has songs, parodies, monologues from writers such as David Budbill, Stephen Sondheim, Christopher Durang, and Thornton Wilder. There is even some aerial arts magic with Kate Kenney and more, all along with refreshments and a cash bar.

“The Kick-Off Cabaret” is a fundraiser for Lost Nation Theater. All of the artists as well as Stage Manager Sarah Menard and lighting designers Samuel Biondolillo and Kelly Daigneault are donating their time and talents to celebrate the start of the season and help fund it, too.

Current COVID-19 safety protocols require masks of audience members and staff. Performers do not mask. City Hall Arts Center Theater also uses a state-of-the-art Bio-Defense Air Purification Synexis System 24/7.

Runtime is about 85 min. with an intermission. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for under 12, and $20 for the on-demand digital recording. Additional donations are gratefully accepted. Find more information and get tickets online at lostnationtheater.org, by calling 802-229-0492, or purchase in person at the Montpelier City Clerk’s Office.

Lost Nation Theater’s performance space within Montpelier City Hall Arts Center is wheelchair accessible and offers assisted listening services. Guide dogs are always welcome. Note any access needs when purchasing tickets.
