Obituary: Loleta M. Perry

Loleta Maybelle Perry, 83, passed away with her family by her side at her home in Moretown, on Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was born in Waterbury on January 6, 1939, the daughter of the late A. Everet and Glenna (Alexander) Perry.
She was a 1957 graduate of Waterbury High School. After high school she went on to beauty school and later opened her own shop in Waterbury. She worked several years at the Vermont State Hospital as a PTA, later she worked at the Waterbury Laundromat and for the Vermont Council on Aging in Barre.


Loleta enjoyed many hobbies, crocheting and needlework, collecting dollhouses, commemorative spoons and cat figurines. Truly her greatest joy was spending time with her large and loving family.
She was a longtime member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 Auxiliary of Waterbury. Over her many years of service with the Legion Auxiliary, she held many positions both at the local and state level. She currently serving as the Auxiliary historian.
Loleta is loved and mourned by her children, Glenna Simpson of Barre, Christina Pike and her husband Donald of Randolph, Clarence Simpson and his wife Gail of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Samuel Simpson and his wife Maria of Plattsburg, New York, Harvey Simpson and his wife Johanne of Vergennes; her sister, Margaret Adams of Morrisville; her brother, Alonzo Perry of Waterbury; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Loleta was predeceased by her two sisters, Alberta Kidder and Beverly Power.
A celebration of Loleta's life will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Waterbury American Legion Post #59, 16 Stowe Street, Waterbury, at 1 p.m. For those who wish, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
