The Revitalizing Waterbury Board of Directors has announced 2021 recipients of its Event and Project Sponsorship Grants -- Across Roads Center for the Arts and the Waterbury Farmers Market.

Each will receive $500 in an effort to support local organizations that conduct events and projects that help fulfill RW’s mission.

“Our hope is that these organizations and their projects will connect people with each other in meaningful ways and promote Waterbury as a destination for visitors,” said Karen Nevin, Revitalizing Waterbury’s executive director.  “We received many outstanding applications for funding and we are excited about all the fabulous projects and events happening in our town.”

The grant to Across Roads Center for the Arts will support its Park Dancing Series of four unique workshops that began in June. Upcoming dates are scheduled in August, September and December at the Waterbury Center Commons Park. The grant to the Waterbury Farmers Market will assist with marketing and messaging now that the market has resumed weekly Thursday operations this summer; it did not run in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Nevin said RW recognizes and appreciates the creativity and initiative taken by many organizations in town that contribute to a dynamic community with exciting activities and projects year-round.

Revitalizing Waterbury is Waterbury’s nonprofit community development organization that works to preserve, promote and improve Waterbury, particularly its downtown for residents and visitors. More information: revitalizingwaterbury.org.
